Jeff Tweedy Covers Neil Young on “Old Country Waltz”

Jeff Tweedy covered Neil Young’s “Old Country Waltz” which appears on his Love Is The King/Live Is The King reissue. Check out the video below as it’s a fairly competent cover.

Last year, Jeff Tweedy released Love Is The King, “11 tracks of spare Americana: promises of romantic faith and devotion and humble expressions of gratitude” (AV Club). Today, he announces Love Is The King/Live Is The King, a deluxe edition of Love Is The King out digitally and on CD on December 10th via dBpm Records (vinyl to follow in 2022), and a run of winter shows in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Tickets will be on sale this Friday, October 22nd at 10am local time.

The Love Is The King/Live Is The King expanded package features the original album plus a bonus disc of live versions of all eleven songs played by Jeff and a full band, and a cover of Neil Young’s “The Old Country Waltz,” which is available to listen to today. The live versions were all recorded at Wilco’s Chicago studio, The Loft and Chicago’s Constellation and The Hideout, with Jeff, sons Sammy and Spencer Tweedy, Liam Kazar, James Elkington, and Ohmme’s Sima Cunningham. For most of the upcoming winter shows, Jeff will be accompanied by this band alongside Macie Stewart.
