Having released one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year so far in The Unseen In Between, Brooklyn-based songwriter/guitarist Steve Gunn today shares two new non-album cuts “Be Still Moon” and “Shrunken Heads.” Listen HERE. Recorded during the sessions that yielded The Unseen In Between, “Be Still Moon” is a swaying acoustic waltz that showcases Gunn’s melodic fretwork, while “Shrunken Heads” sets a rhythmic call-and-response refrain against kaleidoscopic country guitars. While they didn’t make sense with the distinct ebb and flow of the album, taken on their own, the two tracks are as spellbinding an illustration of Gunn’s arresting songcraft as any.
Having recently played with Kim Gordon at the opening of her exhibition at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Gunn recommence his US touring this summer, kicking off in Portland, ME on July 24th, with a European run rounding out his summer. He returns to the West Coast in October with a newly confirmed run of dates with Dinosaur Jr. The full list of tour dates can be found below.
