“[MJ Lenderman’s] lyrics are smart, funny, and written with astounding precision.”
The New Yorker, #1 in “The Best Albums of 2024”

Manning Fireworks proceeds like a greatest hits collection. Every line is a short story. Its jokes are profound, its wisdom ridiculous, its irreverence wide-eyed and irresistible.”
Pitchfork, #4 in “The 50 Best Albums of 2024”

“About a dozen of the year’s funniest lyrics are on this album, along with about a dozen of the saddest. To Lenderman’s credit as a casually studious, wise-beyond-his-years songwriter, they’re usually the same ones.”
New York Times, #1 in Lindsay Zoladz’ Best Albums of 2024

MJ Lenderman’s Manning Fireworks (ANTI-) was one of 2024’s most beloved and critically acclaimed albums, with The Wall Street Journal crowning the album “one of the best indie-rock records of the year” and several publications, including The New Yorker, The New York Times, NPR, and Rolling Stone, placing the album in their top ten albums of the year. Following a completely sold-out fall North American tour and a late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lenderman & his band, The Wind, have now made their NPR Tiny Desk Concert debut. A stripped-down performance, MJ Lenderman & the Wind performed Manning Fireworks highlights “Wristwatch,” “You Don’t Know The Shape I’m In,” and “Rip Torn” along with “Catholic Priest” from Lenderman’s 2021 album, Ghost of Your Guitar Solo.

In conjunction, MJ Lenderman & The Wind announce a September West Coast tour, including his largest headline show to-date at The Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, CA, along with shows in Denver, Oakland, Seattle and more.

Praise for MJ Lenderman & Manning Fireworks

“MJ Lenderman wins this year’s ‘you think it’s easy but you’re wrong’ award with a baked guitar album that sounds like it was knocked off over a lazy weekend, except if it were really easy we’d get a dozen records this great every summer. ”
Rolling Stone, # 3 in “Rob Sheffield’s Top Albums of 2024”

“I don’t think I’ve fallen in love with an album as quickly as the latest release from MJ Lenderman.” — USA Today, #8 in “Best of 2024”

Manning Fireworks is the sound of one of indie rock’s most promising new voices coming into his own.” — Billboard, #38 in The 50 Best Albums of 2024

“Pitched between the country-tinged slacker rock of Freedy Johnston and the reedy doom of Dinosaur Jr’s J. Mascis, Lenderman sings cooly of biding time and escaping a rut.”
New York Magazine, #6 in “The Best Albums Of The Year”

“[Manning Fireworks is] a record of hilariously evocative moments from pathetic people (or is it pathetic moments from hilariously evocative people?) atop purposeful, easy slacker rock melodies. From there, it’s a kaleidoscope of brilliant lyrical short stories.”
Associated Press, The Best Albums of 2024

“Lenderman’s star is rising and it’s getting brighter.”
SPIN, “The Year in Music, 2024: Musicians of the Year”

“As a lyricist, [Lenderman] writes songs where both feel true in equal measure. The music is both pitiful and reflective of our worst selves. You can’t help but root for them.”
Paste, #4 in “The 40 Best Rock Albums of 2024”

“[Lenderman] pumps his songs full of pop appeal and threads them with some of the raddest guitar work in recent memory.” — Stereogum, #2 in “The Best Albums of 2024”

“Across its nine tracks, Lenderman stirs up a countrified indie rock blend that’s sprinkled with a little Drive-By Truckers, Songs: Ohia, and J Mascis and comes out sounding like nobody else in the world.” — Brooklyn Vegan, #2 in “Top 50 Albums of 2024”
