Some airy country is what you may need when temperatures are over a million degrees outside.  Take a chance on Lauren Louvelle, you may enjoy her music as you stay cool.

You could say Lauren Lovelle was born to make country music. The Kansas-bred singer/songwriter is a rising star, and today she unveils her debut single “Anxiously Attached,” her first release from a four-track EP Other Dreams, coming out September 9th.

The Harvey County, Kansas-born singer made her musical debut when she was just four years old, singing “Your Cheatin’ Heart” by Hank Williams onstage with her dad’s honky tonk band. By the time she was 10, she was joining the band for entire sets. Now, after fronting a country band for the last two years in Kansas City, the 24-year-old musician is making her long-destined debut with Other Dreams.

“Anxiously Attached” started as a love song about missing someone, but quickly unraveled to reveal bitter truths about Lauren’s insecurities in a long-distance relationship. “I was begging for the bare minimum, putting my partner on a pedestal, and repeatedly disappointing myself. I find myself laughing during that “dammit I gotta work the dinner shift” line, because I am often playing a gig right after a lunch or dinner shift.”

Reminiscent of country legends like Linda Ronstandt, John Prine, and Townes Van Zandt, Lovelle’s songs tap the old as much as the new, infusing the contemporary indie rock songwriting of Phoebe Bridgers and stripped-down modern country of Esther Rose—creating music that’s seeped in the DNA of classic country and honky tonk, and finished in a dreamy shimmer. It’s music that’s as much for two-stepping with your grandfather as it is driving the endless plains while reflecting on personal trauma and tragedy.

Lauren’s a true country gal. The singer/songwriter was born and raised in Kansas, but her music feels larger than life. Sonically fitting somewhere between Kacey Musgraves and Dolly Parton, this will be her debut release. Lauren has been working doubles at the restaurant she works at in Kansas City so that she can “pay for a shitty apartment” while she tries to make her music career come to fruition and play as many gigs as she can locally.

Lauren just played at Boulevardia in KC, and will be supporting Kansas legends Split Lip Rayfield in Lawrence, KS on June 28th (Kaw River Roots Fest).  She’ll also appear at Alternating Currents Festival in Davenport on Aug 15th and play at the iconic Liberty Hall (with Hembree) on August 16th in Lawrence, KS.
