Amen Dunes (aka the project of Damon McMahon) continues to tour in support of Freedom, released this past spring via Sacred Bones. The band will kick off 2019 with three more weeks of headline shows throughout the U.S. All tickets go on sale Friday, November 9th.
Freedom boldly and intimately explores McMahon’s life, from reflecting on male identity to childhood friends that ended up in prison. The album was met with an incredible reception upon its release, with many critics and fans deeming it their favorite album of the year so far. Described as “his euphoric breakthrough” when named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork, Freedom will be released digitally as a deluxe version on November 30th. In addition to all of the original songs from Freedom, the deluxe version will include four live tracks from the Freedom Tour this past year, all of which were recorded throughout Europe in Prague, Brighton, and Vienna. The addition of these live tracks showcase the band — McMahon (vocals, guitar), Delicate Steve (guitars), Raffaele Martirani aka Panoram (keys), Darren Beckett (drums), Daniel McDowell (bass), and Jimi Hey (drums on “L.A.”).
“Growing up whenever I got into a record I always wanted to hear what else could’ve happened but didn’t, so I would look for alternative takes and mixes and live versions, and I like doing the same for my own music,” says McMahon. “These tracks are for all the people who couldn’t see us live or liked the record and wanted more.”
