R.E.M’s track “Fascinating” was recorded in Nassau in 2004 and is being released to benefit global organization Mercy Corps’ Hurricane Dorian relief and recovery efforts in the Bahamas. While that’s a noble effort, “Fascinating” is a mawkish mess. Electronics and overproduction swirl in this dated track that feels like a warmed up leftover from “Reveal.” Bleah.
